Smithsonian Brochure

A bit of political history

The Lemelson Center for Study of Invention and Innovation is part of the Smithsonian Museum inside the National Museum of American History in Washington D.C. They house historical archives of invention and innovation throughout time, as well as host fun exhibits and activities for kids and adults to promote creative thinking. Annually, they host a symposium featuring various topics. This one in particular was on the history of political campaigns and elections. They needed a innovative brochure to guide attendees through the programs as well as highlight their vast historical archive.

This ballot-like accordion brochure visually guided attendees through each section of the event. Branded color coding and ballot formatted typography showcased each topic and speaker. The backside of the brochure turned into a poster when the piece was fully extended. Each piece from the collection was numbered with a captioned at the side.
